What Is NAFCO?

North American Filter Corporation (NAFCO) was established in 1984 and incorporated in New York. From the beginning, NAFCO focused on innovative filter design, introducing several patented NAFCO filters that provided customers with significant filtration advantages. These foundational patents remain in effect today.

Throughout its history, NAFCO has prioritized superior filtration solutions and servicing industries like manufacturing and oil and gas. Customers also benefit from NAFCO's expert engineering assistance. Today, NAFCO remains an innovative leader with a robust line of filters available for purchase through its NAFCO online store.

What Replacement Filters Does Fluitek Carry From NAFCO?

North American Filter Corporation makes several types of filters that can be used across different industries. Some of the filters we carry replacements for include:

Panel Filters

Panel filters are basic, inexpensive filter media commonly used as pre-filters in HVAC systems. Made of rigid panels of corrugated cardboard or paper, they capture larger airborne particles before they reach the main filter. Although they have a low particle capture level compared to other filters, panel filters are effective at trapping dust, pollen, plant fibers, and other large debris over 1 micron in size from entering a building.

Pleated Media

Pleated filter media uses thick paper, synthetic fiber, or foam that is accordion-pleated like a fan. This unique folded design increases the effective surface area many times compared to a flat sheet. The extra media allows pleated filters to remove smaller particles down to 2-5 microns while still maintaining adequate airflow. They are commonly used as primary filters in central HVAC systems, air handlers, and cleanrooms.

Liquid Process Cartridges

Liquid process cartridges are designed to remove contaminants from industrial liquids and fluids. These pressurized cartridges use various filter media like activated carbon, polymeric membranes or hollow fiber technology to microfilter particulate and purify liquids down to sub-micron levels. They are commonly used for critical process applications in manufacturing industries like chemicals, food and beverage production, plating operations, and oil refining.

Radial Fin Elements

Radial fin elements feature a unique cylindrical construction, with fins radiating out from a central core or tube like the spokes on a wheel. This design allows for very high surface area and dirt loading in a small footprint. Radial fin filters are made from sintered bronze, stainless steel, and other durable materials that withstand demanding industrial environments and pressures.

Air Intake Elements

Air intake elements are pre-filters that protect incoming air streams from large debris particles. Constructed with a rugged outer mesh and dense inner media, these durable filters remove particles over 25 microns from entering compressor inlets, combustion air intakes, and other aeration systems.

Air and Oil Separators

Air and oil separator filters play a critical role in industrial pneumatic systems by removing liquid and solid contaminants from compressed air before they reach sensitive production equipment. Large coalescing elements made of cotton, synthetic fiber, or aluminum honeycombs attract and capture tiny oil aerosol droplets suspended in the airflow. Centrifugal forces then separate the collected liquids into removable collection tanks.

Compressed Air Filters

Compressed air filters provide the final stage of purification needed for many industrial processes and quality control applications relying on clean, dry compressed air. Typical filter media includes thin synthetic fiberglass mats, membranes, or sintered metal alloys configured in pleated panels or tubes.

Hydraulic Filters

Hydraulic filters contain fine porous mesh or depth media engineered to capture microscopic particles in hydraulic fluid before they can damage expensive system components. Cartridge-style designs packed with glass fibers or synthetic fabrics precisely remove particles 4-75 microns in size from hydraulic oil powering machinery. Their cyclonic venting and relief valves prevent filter bypass or overflow.
